Day 2 here at the NRA Convention has been a smashing success! It’s been full of passionate conversations and more calls to action.
I spent the morning listening to another inspiring speech from NRA CEO Wayne LaPierre. He spoke at length about the importance of not demonising law-abiding gun owners, a message I plan to echo when I return home to Australia. I’ve been struck by the passion and unity of all the NRA members here in Kentucky. Folks are clear-headed and devoted to their freedom.
I had the pleasure of being interviewed by Cam Edwards for his Cam & Company program, airing on NRA News. Cam was incredibly sympathetic to our mission at Gun Rights Australia. We spoke about the upcoming Australian election, ideas for legislative reform that makes sense, and how critical self-defense is in maintaining our freedom. Later I spent some time with Nicole Waugh, executive assistant to NRA-ILA Chris Cox, planning future meetings with NRA staffers. Then it was off to speak with Dan Zimmerman at TheTruthAboutGuns.com and finally, I was interview by WHAS ABC reporter Sara Wagner for a story to air tomorrow. I’m truly excited about the momentum GRA is building at the convention.
I walked the exhibit hall and shared the story of Australia’s oppressive gun laws and the legislative fight ahead of us. Many were familiar with our “nanny state” and were excited about the potential voice for change that GRA represents. I look forward to many more conversations tomorrow!
